International rice trade
Payment Policy for Export Orders
This payment policy explains how buyers and S&A Global Agro discuss and confirm payment arrangements for Indian rice export orders. The signed sales contract, accepted proforma invoice and final commercial documents for a particular shipment set the actual agreed terms.
General guidance: This page is provided for business information and is not a payment offer, credit commitment, or legal or financial advice. Confirm the terms for your specific order in writing before remitting funds.
Agreeing payment terms before an order
Payment method, currency, payment milestones and due dates are agreed with the buyer during quotation and order confirmation. They may depend on the product specification, order value, destination, shipment schedule and banking requirements. A discussion, website inquiry or preliminary quotation does not itself confirm an order or reserve stock.
Any advance, deposit, balance payment, documentary collection or letter-of-credit arrangement applies only when expressly stated in the accepted sales contract or proforma invoice. Do not assume that a payment method or credit period is available unless it is confirmed in the order documents.
Payment, Loading & Delivery Conditions
The following options may be discussed for an export order. The selected arrangement, definitions, documents and applicable delivery point must be confirmed in the accepted sales contract or proforma invoice.
Payment conditions
- 30% advance; balance against loading receipt (FOR).
- 30% advance; balance against RFS BL (FOB).
- 30% advance; balance against documents (CIF).
- 100% at-sight letter of credit (LC) from a prime international bank (CIF), subject to bank and document acceptance.
Loading conditions
- Truckload.
- Container loading with factory stuffing.
Delivery conditions
These are indicative commercial options, not an automatic offer or confirmation that every option is available for every destination. Spell out the agreed delivery point, documents, charges, risk-transfer terms and payment milestones in the order documents. “RFS BL” should be clarified with the trade desk and defined in the contract for the specific shipment.
Invoices, currency and remittance details
Use the beneficiary name, bank details, payment reference, currency and due date shown on the latest invoice or separately authenticated payment instructions. If any bank detail changes or a payment request seems unusual, verify it with the export desk using a previously known contact channel before transferring funds.
Unless the order documents state otherwise, the buyer is responsible for confirming that the remitted amount reaches the seller net of intermediary, correspondent-bank and receiving-bank charges. Exchange-rate conversion, bank processing times and remittance reporting can vary by institution and country.
Payment confirmation and shipment coordination
Share the remittance reference or bank advice with the trade desk so the payment can be matched to the invoice. A transfer receipt is not, by itself, confirmation that cleared funds have been credited. Shipment preparation, release of documents or other order milestones follow the timing and conditions written into the accepted order documents.
If a payment is delayed, incomplete, sent in the wrong currency or cannot be matched to an order, contact the trade desk promptly. Any revised due date, bank-charge adjustment or other change should be recorded in writing by both parties.
Refunds, cancellations and disputes
Any refund, cancellation charge, deduction or adjustment depends on the circumstances and the terms of the applicable sales contract, invoice and governing requirements. Contact the export desk with the order number and supporting remittance details to request a review. No refund or deduction should be assumed unless confirmed in writing.
